The Montessori Method

The first woman in Italy to graduate in medicine from the University of Rome, Maria Montessori (1870-1952) worked with children needing enhanced or specialised care and education, and began her lifelong pursuit of studying child development. In 1907, based on her research in philosophy, child development and education, she opened the first Casa dei Bambini. This is where the Montessori Method of education was developed and she spent most of her remaining life writing, lecturing and teaching about these methods. The Montessori Method believes that children learn directly from their environmentand other children. The teacher is there to facilitate the child’s exploration and creativity. All subjects are interwoven and each child learns at their own pace. This helps them to gain independence and confidence, and be proud of their achievements. Having learned to work both independently and in groups, children who are taught using the Montessori Method usually adapt easily to new situations and environments.

The Montessori Nursery School method, children learn directly from their environment. Learning practical skills fosters independence and builds positive self-esteem from an early age…

Since they have been encouraged to discuss their work freely with others and to make decisions from an early age, these children are problem-solvers who can make appropriate choices and manage their time well. Their good communication skills ease the way in new settings and situations. Research has shown that the best predictor of future success is a positive sense of self-esteem. The Montessori Nursery School programmes based on self-directed, non-competitive activities, help children develop a strong self-image and the confidence to face challenges and change with optimism.

MONTESSORI is a way of education is to inspire children to become self-confident and motivated individuals; we achieve this by providing the highest quality educational play school, preschool, kindergarten, after school programs and opportunities for each child to reach their highest potential.

We feel proud to say that Avani Chadhurvethi International Play School is a member of “Indian Montessori Association”

At ACIPS we know that learning is fun, therefore we strive to provide a well-rounded education and instill in our children a love for learning. The basic goals of education at all levels (even daycare or childcare as well as preschool or kindergarten) are to help increase the child’s level of independence, to increase their ability to concentrate, and encourage imagination. Curriculum is presented by ability and not by age. Therefore, as students develop, Montessori Certified and Trained teachers present appropriate lessons and materials to support each child’s growth and emerging capabilities.

For parents, students, and teachers, it will be a journey filled with joy, laughter, and friendship. Children’s success here is not limited to academic mastery, they learn to care for themselves and care about others and the world in which they live. We are committed to a philosophy that fosters respect and compassion and honors the spirit of childhood. Children who benefit from such great beginnings have futures that are limitless…”

Avani Chadhurvethi International Play School “Building Strong Foundations, One Child at a Time”

Our goal is to give each child the individualized attention needed to learn, discover and develop values such as respect for self/others, honesty, integrity, responsibility, empathy, compassion, and kindness. We achieve this goal by providing an enriching educational environment.

ABOUT US FOR MONTESSORI SYSTEM

Our classrooms are prepared by Montessori Certified and Trained Teachers. The school is organized to allow the child to move freely in an environment that is engaging and responsive to each child, at each stage of development.

Our teachers are dedicated professionals with strong educational backgrounds. The teacher is a guide, directing the child’s learning experiences through instruction in the use of the learning materials and through observation of the child’s progress. The teacher remains aware of each child’s interest and developmental stage, providing lessons appropriate to both. This ensures success on the child’s part which leads to positive self-esteem.

CURRICULUM

Our play category’s Montessori Program is a fun, loving, and respectful place for our youngest students to become independent and self-confident individuals. We encourage them to explore their rich classroom environments by making their own choices from among a wide variety of developmentally appropriate materials.

Our resourceful play school classrooms promote language, math, practical life exercises, science, and the arts as well as fine and gross motor activities. Individual attention is paid to promoting each child’s emerging language skills and each child’s curiosity to explore all of the learning materials and the outdoors. The primary goal is to support the children’s physical, cognitive, social, and emotional growth and to nurture their sense of being in a secure and stimulating environment.

Our preschool children develop observation and problem-solving skills. They are able to achieve this by manipulating, experimenting, and discovering through Montessori materials and prepared environment.. Children begin to move from the concrete to the abstract as they prepare for the more complex studies used in our Montessori Kindergarten program.

The Kindergarten curriculum closely follows the principles of Montessori education. Our holistic approach to education is evident as we support the opportunities for development socially, physically, intellectually and emotionally for each child. Children are able to move on when ready for a new challenge. Therefore, lessons are presented in small groups to the children and through observation, the teacher determines when the child has internalized a concept and is ready for a new concept. The Kindergarten year highlights critical thinking, independence, comprehension, and preparedness for elementary.
